What is Cosmo?
Cosmo is a set of interactive and multi-sensory controllers (called Cosmoids), that work together with the Cosmo app. Cosmo offers an ever- growing selection of activities that motivate learners to develop motor, cognitive, and communication skills through play and music. Cosmo’s multi-sensory activities work towards achieving skill-based, functional, and national curriculum compatible goals. Results are recorded to allow for easy progress tracking. Our interactive activities have been especially designed by therapists and special educators to provide engaging and motivating opportunities for learning, creativity, and therapy.
What do I need to use Cosmo?
You can use cosmo in two ways: (1) with the Cosmo app (iPad) or (2) as a switch with third party apps.
(1) To run the Cosmo app and activities, you will need an iPad with iOS 10.0 or newer.
This means that it runs on:

If you are uncertain about your iOS version, open the Settings app on your iPad, then click General and then About. Cosmo works with all versions of iOS 10, 11, 12, 13 and iPad OS.
(2) Using the Cosmoids as Switches: To use the Cosmoids as switches you need a device with Bluetooth 4/ Bluetooth LE, or Bluetooth. This includes all operating systems (Windows, Google, Mac, Android, Linux, etc) and nearly all tablets, smartphones and computers that have been produced in the last 8 years.
What ages is Cosmo designed for?
Cosmo is designed for children and adults with special educational needs and physical disabilities, but people of all ages and abilities enjoy it! It is especially suitable for people with moderate to severe autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties, cerebral palsy, brain injuries, and other physical, social, and communication difficulties.
What exactly will I get when I buy Cosmo? (What’s in each kit?)
Cosmo Switch: One (1) cosmoid, a USB cable and a magnet for attaching your Cosmoid to a variety of surfaces
Cosmo Explore: Three (3) Cosmoids, USB charger cables, a charging port with international plug adapters and magnets for attaching your Cosmoids to a variety of surfaces
Cosmo Excel: Six (6) Cosmoids, USB charger cables, a charging port with international plug adapters and magnets for attaching your Cosmoids to a variety of surfaces.
Then you just need to download the free Cosmo app from the app store onto your iPad, and you’re ready to go!
How do I charge the Cosmoids?
Plug the Cosmoids into the charging port using the USB charging cables. You can charge all six (6) at the same time. The Cosmoids take around 2-4 hours to charge and will glow red while charging. They glow green once fully charged.
How long is the battery life?
A 2-4 hour charge will keep the Cosmoids going for around a week of normal usage (2 to 3 hours a day).
Are the Cosmoids wireless?
Yes, the Cosmoids are completely wireless and connect with the iPad using Bluetooth. The range of the Cosmoids is around 15 – 20 metres.
How robust are the Cosmoids?
We know that SEN equipment must be built to last, so we have made Cosmoids very sturdy.
We recommend that you don’t use them with your feet though 🙂
Is there a warranty?
Yes, all Cosmoids are covered by a 24-month limited warranty. Find out more about our policies here.

Can I use the Cosmoids with a variety of programs and software?
Our single Cosmoid device will be launched in 2018 and for use as a sensitive and ergonomic accessibility controller. Single Cosmoids can connect with dozens of online games and applications such as Skype and Google Calendar, giving access to people with limited motor or cognitive abilities, and providing light notifications.
Can I track progress using Cosmo?
Getting there! We will soon be launching the data analytics feature of Cosmo. The app will present you with data on your students’ physical and cognitive development, including sequencing, reaction time, logical reasoning.
What is the educational value of each activity?
Cosmo’s multisensory activities focus on skill-based, functional and National Curriculum compatible goals to help students in tasks of everyday living. Cosmo’s activities motivate learners to develop motor, cognitive, and communication skills using meaningful sound, light, colour and musical interactions.
