Moos te Velthuis on his musical passion and music therapy with Cosmo.

My name is Moos te Velthuis, I am 21 years old and I come from Goor, a small town in the east of the Netherlands. I play the bass guitar and have been in bands since I was little. I have also been producing music in Logic Pro X for 3 years. I am currently in year one of the bachelor’s of music therapy at ArtEZ Enschede.

I’ve been making music all my life, but I never knew very well in which direction I would like to work later, for me, music has always been much more than being successful or being famous.

It is a very nice way to get in touch with a person or to get to know a person better. When I heard about this study I knew which direction I would like to take with my career. During my first year of this study, we had music technology lessons. During these lessons, we were given all kinds of different devices that are used during music therapy. That’s how I came into contact with Cosmo!

I quickly noticed how much fun Cosmo is to use during the sessions. The different games you can play allow you to work on different learning goals with the client.

The only thing I still missed was more variety in the choice of music. Because you can use Cosmo well on children/adolescents, it is essential to take into account the music taste of this age. I missed the trap/urban sound that is very popular with this target group these days. When I presented this to Marijke Groothuis (Musical Technology teacher) she was very enthusiastic. I made the beat that I used for this project because during a salsa dance workshop at school I heard a song that inspired me to make this beat. When I showed the beat to Marijke she was immediately enthusiastic. I’m thrilled to be able to help broaden the music genres in Cosmo. I think Cosmo is a great tool to activate and challenge people.
